There are so many proven and new body contouring methods out there today, that we totally understand if you’re skeptical about the results you might expect and what the treatment experience is really like. There’s a lot of misinformation out there!
Here in Albany, we offer a wide range of body contouring technologies, including CoolSculpting®, Emsculpt® and Beautifill™, to help you love your body. To help you achieve your best results, here’s a look at three common misconceptions about non-invasive body contouring, and what you can expect when you come to us for help.
Myth #1: CoolSculpting is about weight loss.
CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment. This FDA-cleared non-invasive fat reduction technology is designed for people who are within 20 to 30 pounds of their ideal weight, who don’t anticipate any dramatic weight changes in the foreseeable future. Body contouring is about eliminating that inch you can pinch — from a muffin top to a double chin, which plagues people of every weight, even skinny types. These hard-to-lose pockets of excess fat are impossible to tame with diet and exercise alone, and that’s where CoolSculpting comes in to give you the extra help you need. During your personal consultation, we’ll carefully evaluate your “problem spots” to determine if CoolSculpting or a combination of treatments will help you meet your goals. We can’t wait to help!
Myth #2: Body contouring is painful.
Body contouring here at Semblance Medspa can be done in a variety of ways, based on your unique needs and goals. With any of our treatments, whether you use CoolSculpting®, Emsculpt® or Beautifill™, we can ensure you that these treatments are well-tolerated. CoolSculpting freezes your fat cells, so you may experience tingling and discomfort while your target area is initially cooling down, but you should feel comfortable enough to relax for the remainder of your session. EmSculpt is essentially a workout, using non-invasive electromagnetic energy to stimulate thousands of muscle contractions while you lay back. Your muscles will feel engaged and “worked,” but you shouldn’t experience any pain. Beautifill is a lipo and fat transfer procedure that is minimally invasive, requiring only local anesthesia to ensure your comfort.
Myth #3: Body contouring requires a lot of downtime.
Emsculpt requires zero downtime, while CoolSculpting requires little to no downtime, depending on the size and number of areas being treated. Beautifill, a more involved procedure in general, still only requires a few days to a week of social downtime. You’ll need to avoid vigorous exercise and heavy lifting for a few weeks, and you may also need to wear a compression garment to speed healing and reduce swelling, but you’ll be able to move about freely almost immediately following your procedure.
